Essential Oils have been used for thousands of years in various cultures for medicinal and health purposes, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

It is advised to use oils topically or aromatically.

The 7 oils below will help you assemble a natural first-aid kit for a variety of common minor ailments.

Tea Tree: Tea tree is used topically for skin problems like fungus and blemishes. You can apply it to the skin with a cotton swab.

Lavender: Lavender is one of the most versatile oils. Although it is most commonly known for its relaxing effects, it also may help bruises, cuts, and skin irritation.

Calendula: Calendula can be used in a variety of forms. It’s particularly good for sensitive skin and may reduce the appearance of acne scars. Consider adding a drop in your bathwater to soothe psoriasis.

Chamomile: Chamomile is particularly well known for its relaxing effects, which is why the tea is a popular drink before bed. Add to the calming effects with a few drops of the oil on your pillowcase.

Peppermint: Peppermint purifies and stimulates the mind. It can also increase mental alertness. Consider applying a small amount of oil on the back of your neck or on your temples to get the aromatic benefits.

Frankincense: Frankincense has been used for thousands of years. Some of its most well-known benefits include being a topical anti-inflammatory, astringent, and disinfectant. Some people also enjoy the aromatic benefits while meditating or practicing yoga.

Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus is a great oil to have on hand if you get frequent colds or suffer from allergies. Putting a few drops of oil in a diffuser, hot bath, or shower can help open up stuffy noses and provide a soothing, cooling sensation.
